April is Autism awareness month and Vydehi School initiated awareness– raising event by taking a ride on the Metro rail. The students carried placards, slogans and information on early diagnosis of autism and early intervention for autism.They were accompanied by staff, parents and other supporters / volunteers.
The students found support in the staff members of Namma Metro, who were instrumental in making the ride safe and pleasurable.
Brief History: On December 18, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution which declares April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day. The World Autism Awareness Day resolution encourages all to take measures to raise awareness about autism throughout society and to encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. It further expresses deep concern at the prevalence and high rate of autism in children in all regions of the world and the consequent developmental challenges.
